"The most amazing aspect of my experience with Laura was how she helped me to discover what was really wrong with me."

Acupuncture

The notion of harmony is central to the practice of acupuncture: treatments involve returning a body in a state of disharmony to a state of balance. Patients are often relieved to learn that their confusing list of symptoms reflects a pattern well understood in Traditional Chinese Medicine. When this pattern of imbalance is addressed, a number of seemingly unrelated symptoms may be relieved in one course of treatment. This leads to more than the absence of symptoms. It leads to the presence of a sense of well-being.

While a series of sessions may be necessary for effective treatment of complex problems, individual sessions in the series are likely to generate a profound relaxation response. People describe feeling calmer and sleeping more deeply after treatment.

Herbal Medicine

Herbal formulas are designed to address the patient’s individual constitution and symptoms, and work as both a principal treatment method and an excellent complement to acupuncture. I assess the patient’s progress over time and adjust the suggested herb formula accordingly. Herbal medicines provide support between acupuncture sessions and augment the range of possible treatments. Herbs can be very powerful in the treatment of conditions such as fatigue, anxiety, digestive issues, immune deficiencies, infectious diseases, menstrual disorders, endometriosis, fertility and menopausal problems.

Qi Gong

Qi gong literally means the cultivation of energy. It can also be described as moving meditation. A series of individual movements makes up what is known as a form. I am both a student and teacher of Qi Gong. I teach Qi gong forms in weekly classes, which my patients and other students attend. I also like to teach individual movements to patients at the end of acupuncture sessions. Sometimes I just teach Qi Gong to a patient instead of doing any other treatment.

Follow-up Care

Each session includes planning with each patient how they are going to support their health sessions. We may discuss diet, time management, exercise, work or personal issues.
